Find repeated work with a clear boundary

Look for a task that happens often, has recognizable inputs, and produces an output someone can check. Drafting a handoff checklist can be a better first project than delegating every customer conversation. Record the exceptions that still need judgment.

Measure the current task

Observe several examples. Record preparation time, correction time, and what happens when the work is wrong. This gives you a baseline for a useful comparison; it does not require an elaborate reporting system.

Count the work that remains

Compare the new process including review, maintenance, software costs, and exception handling. Time released is not automatically cash saved. Ask whether it reduces a real cost, improves service, or creates capacity your team can actually use.

Pilot before expanding

Use a small non-sensitive example, check the result with the owner, and keep the manual path available. Decide what evidence would justify continuing. An implementation partner should explain boundaries, ownership, and recovery as clearly as the demonstration.
